Nusheen

Nusheen received her Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance from the University of South Carolina and plays regularly in several orchestras in the northern Virginia area, including the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, the Northern Neck Orchestra, and others. With a passion for various musical styles, she is the co-founder of a Persian Celtic fusion trio that enjoys immense popularity around the DMV area.

Nusheen is also the owner and founder of the absolutely gorgeous Studio Muse in Sterling, Virginia — a multipurpose space with various performance venues and rooms for private lessons. Here she manages a diverse team of music teachers instructing on various instruments and genres. One of her goals in opening a music studio was to have a space to share many styles of music with the community and to provide a rich environment for students to learn from. As such, the Studio regularly hosts concerts by a wide range of artists from around the globe.

It was an absolute delight to work with Celeste and Nusheen! The experience from contract to day of execution was smooth and a real treat for us and our guests!!

Q&A with Nusheen

Nusheen

A: I started playing violin when I was seven years old. My dad had a store that was right next to a violin shop and I would constantly go into the shop and look at them working on the instruments and I was super intrigued. My dad noticed, and he started me off with lessons. I also loved listening to classical and Persian music when I was a kid and I can’t imagine it not being in my life now.

I primarily listen to classical music and very traditional Persian music when I was a kid. Once I got to high school, I began branching out into jazz and pop music.

I have been so lucky to have had so many varied performance experiences. Everything from performing in arenas with 20,000 people in attendance to small house concerts with just 20 people. What I have learned from that is no matter the size of the venue, the best part is not only the connection you gain with the audience, but also the musicians you play with. There are something so powerful about being able to communicate through music.

If my other answers weren’t a dead giveaway, I love playing classical, Persian, and Celtic music!

I love to sing, but not in public. I can play viola and oboe.

I have lived in Northern Virginia most of my life but I lived in Florida and South Carolina as well.

If I were to win the lottery, the first person I would tell is 1000% my sister.

I promise I do love Bollywood music and Pop music but when I drive, I primarily listen to classical music, because that is the radio station that is always playing.

I have two pets; a cat and a humongous dog. My cat rules the household even though she is an eighth of my dog’s size.

The apps that I use the most for fun, and that are not work-related, are definitely YouTube and Libby.

Popcorn, chocolate, or Ramen are awesome midnight snacks.

I really love running as well as weightlifting.

I wish I was better at time management. Although every day I actively work on improving it.

Playing music definitely makes me lose track of time. If I am really enjoying what I am working on, hours can go by without me realizing it. Reading is another big activity that I can get lost in.

Nusheen was absolutely amazing and did a fantastic job. Very graceful and very professional!
