Celeste is absolutely incredible! She played for us at our proposal and we fell in love with her then so we HAD to rebook her for our wedding. Our guests fell in love with her just as much as we did — we got married this past September and our guests are STILL raving about how amazing our violinist was. If you’re looking for a musician to set a romantic, timeless and classy vibe on your wedding day, Celeste is your girl!

How old were you when you started playing the violin? Why did you begin?

I was four. My mom made all of us start violin lessons when we turned four - me, both of my younger brothers and my baby sister. She took us to lessons every week and practiced with each of us individually every day, even when we had friends over to play. I was so mad sometimes, but I'm really glad she made me!

I feel like every performance I do is my new favorite!

I love to sing Broadway tunes, Jazz standards and 80's classic rock. On violin, I lean more toward Texas swing, Celtic and some bluegrass/country fiddle.

My degree is in vocal performance, and I really thought I was going to head more in that direction, but the violin kept popping back up. I'm in my happiest place when I get to do both.

I studied in the Suzuki method so that meant listening to the songs I was learning over and over before I was ever allowed to play them. A little gospel, a little country, a little classical. I also learned a bunch of big band and Texas swing hits from the 1930's. My grandpa was a self-taught piano player and he'd teach me some of these old classics when we'd play together sometimes.

I taught private lessons when I was younger and even taught in Dallas ISD (Elementary Music) for four years. It's the hardest job I've ever had. I respect teachers so much!

Be patient and kind to yourself. Practice consistently, even when you don't feel like it. And find a teacher you like, someone you look forward to seeing. If you don't like your teacher you'll likely give up.

Gardening!

My husband Joe! Love of my life!
