How old were you when you started playing the violin? Why did you begin?
I began learning violin when I was 7 years old. Growing up, I was always attracted to the arts and anything involving aesthetic creativity. I quickly learned that performing and music were going to be my lifelong calling.
What music did you grow up listening to?
All kinds of genres and music. I was always open to learning various types of music from the start including classical, CCM, hymns, jazz, rock, pop.
Besides Bollywood & Pop, what other styles of music do you love to play?
Personally, traditional hymns share a special place in my heart. I also enjoy performing wedding/cinematic strings version of the most popular Kpop songs and a mix of Bossa Nova and Baroque Pop music (Eg: Laufey, Lana Del Rey).
What is your primary skill or instrument? Do you sing or play any other instruments?:
Violin
Do you teach or only perform? If you do teach, in what context?
I chose performing because it has been a constant part of my life from childhood to the present.
What is your educational background and what degree(s) do you have?
I graduated from a performing arts high school as a Strings Major, also have my Bachelors and Masters In Music Performance.
Do you speak any languages besides English? Which one(s) and how well?
I can speak conversational Korean.
What’s your go-to show off song you play when someone puts you on the spot?
If there was one song, I would choose "Golden" by Huntrix from Kpop Demon Hunters. It’s truly a mood-lifting cure in musical form.
How else do you like to spend your free time when you're not practicing or performing?
I adore dancing. In many ways, my development as a musician accelerated dramatically thanks to my experience with dance.
