Cat was the absolute best. She was truly the highlight of our wedding ceremony and of the cocktail hour. She took requests, was flexible, mobile and interacted with all the guests.

Cat was amazing. She exceeded expectations. A true professional in every sense of the word. Conscientious, caring, smart, excellent interpersonal skills and wonderful at listening as well as communicating. That’s all before we get to the playing! Her performance was stunning and evoked emotion. This musician is a ‘can’t miss’ if you’re looking for an ace, bullseye, or ringer. I had no prior knowledge of Cat, but won the lottery taking a chance with her.

CAT IN ACTION!
How old were you when you started playing the violin? Why did you begin?
4 years old, my mom loves the violin and wanted me to play.
What has been your favorite performing experience so far?
I had a strolling violin gig back in May, and it was so fun to dance with the guests (I even had a dance off with this little girl, she was so cute!)
Besides Bollywood & Pop, what other styles of music do you love to play?
Honestly, anything and everything! I love jazz, Celtic, fiddle, bluegrass, I'm trying to learn carnatic violin right now, and of course classical and baroque music.
Do you sing or play any other instruments?
I am not a proficient singer but I can sing and match pitch and harmonize! I play viola, 5 string violin, and cello at a lower level.
What can you share about the role music plays in your culture and/or background?
Because I am half Korean and half white, I have always been in a strange position where I never really fit in with my Korean side or my white side. I grew to love learning music from different countries because it allowed me an unbiased and unclouded glimpse into their culture, and that through music I am able to participate in that culture respectfully. It's always touching because my participation has always been welcome through music, which has connected me to so many different and wonderful people. Selfishly, when I perform at cultural events, I also get to eat their native food which is seriously SO delicious. Music and food tell so many stories about ones country and culture.
Do you teach violin or any other instruments? Private lessons or some other context?
I teach private violin and viola lessons.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
LMy teachers Ronald Houston and Casey Driessen, then by observation Amy Serrano and Akiko Meyers, and Linkin Park (they got me interested in Electric Violin).
Do you speak any languages besides English? Which one(s) and how well?
Sadly not. I can speak some Japanese and some Korean but not enough to converse.
What was your first professional performance? How old were you?
San Angelo Symphony when I was 20.
